Movie Review: Insurgent

Andrew & I have been talking about seeing Insurgent ever since we saw the first movie, Divergent.  We really enjoyed the first movie a lot. It was similar to the set up of The Hunger Games, but still different enough to keep you intrigued. If you don't know what the movie series (originally book series) is about, check out here

So, on Thursday, Andrew & I decided that we would go see Insurgent in the balcony at the Warren. Let me just say, if you are 21 & haven't been to the balcony or the director's suites there, go to the balcony FIRST & then go to the director's suite. The balcony is really nice with the big screen, but you get spoiled in the director's suite. They both have heated seats (which is awesome), but the director's suite has these huge leather recliners & it's fantastic. So, before you get spoiled, go to the balcony first. The food is also pretty good in the balcony & the director's suite. It's not too overly priced (about $15 & under) & it tastes better than the food downstairs in the diner in my opinion.

^unfortunately the best pic we could get

The movie was pretty awesome. Shailene Woodly has really started to step up her game in this movie series compared to when she first started off in Hollywood. Honestly, I still enjoyed the first movie better. It was more interesting & intriguing, but Insurgent was a pretty great movie overall. I haven't read the books before & I always hear that the books are better than the movie.. But Andrew & I like the fact that we don't know what's going on in any of these movies (same thing when we watched The Hunger Games).

It's rated PG-13 so you can expect some things with that. Language was pretty minimal COMPARED to most PG-13 movies these days, but still nonetheless, it was definitely there. There was also one (more so) implied round of sexual content. Also, violence is one big thing with action movies like this. You can make your own judgment calls on all of those things. For more information on the rating, check out here.

The actual movie itself, I'd give a B+. I think that the movie was pretty good, but not as awesome as the first movie. Also, like I said before, make your own call on content, especially when thinking about taking children or adolescents to see it. You can pretty well expect the same amount of PG-13 content in this movie as you can in any other action-packed, superhero type movies.

Have you guys seen Insurgent? If so, how did you like it? Or if you haven't seen it, do you think you will?
