7 Things That Make Me Feel Wonderful

Life is busy.  I feel like lately I've been running at 100 mph.  I'm constantly going somewhere, having to run an errand (or 20), or doing something semi-productive for school or home.  Seriously, I should probably slow down sometime soon.  There are little things in life though, that make me slow down, breathe, & realize it will all be okay.  These little things make me feel wonderful.  As humans, we make things a bigger deal than they actually are.  It makes me think of the Bible verse from Matthew 6:34 that says, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

So, here are some of the things that make me feel wonderful even in this busy life.

1. Getting a pedicure.
Anyone who knows me knows that getting a pedicure is the one thing I get like clockwork every month.  It's the one hour out of the month where I take a little time for myself & just relax.  It's probably the most calming thing I do.  It feels amazing & most of the time, I like to just close my eyes & live it up.  Seriously, pedicures are awesome.

2. Taking off my makeup & putting on my pajamas before 9:00 pm.
On Monday nights, Andrew usually goes & plays basketball with some of the guys.  I typically use that night to do something productive like do homework or fold laundry (or sometimes I do something unproductive like watch Netflix).  But, there's nothing better than right after he leaves, going & taking off my make up & putting my pajamas on.  It's an even better feeling when it's before 9:00 pm (I don't know why, but it just is).  Knowing that you've wiped away your makeup that you've had on since 8 that morning & finally get to change into something more comfortable is a relaxing feeling.

3. Sleeping in... but not for too long.
I love sleeping in so much.  It's just one of those things in life that makes you feel like you've finally caught up on something.  But, I hate when I sleep in too long where I've wasted my entire morning.  When I do things in the morning, it makes me feel productive.  If I've slept in too long where the majority of my morning is gone, it makes me feel like a little bit of a failure.  Also, I think there's a thing of sleeping in too long where you get even more tired than you were originally (that's not scientific or anything, just my personal opinion).

4. Wearing my Dad's old t-shirts.
My Dad & I were super close.  After he passed away, I had a pretty rough time.  When my Mom went through all of his stuff eventually, she let me pick out what t-shirts of his I wanted.  Of course they are a lot bigger than me, but I love to sleep in his old t-shirts.  Part of me is convinced that I still smell him on them which makes me feel wonderful.. Kind of a sense of closeness to him.

5. Talking to a hilarious kid.
Children are basically my favorite.  I think they're probably the coolest population of people on the planet.  For that reason, I love talking to kids.  I especially love it when they're at that age where they say practically everything they think.  Basically, they say the things that adults are thinking (or the truth) & it's usually pretty hilarious (e.g., "Why is she being so moody? or "Your hair looks funny.")

6. Going to Target.
Target is definitely my happy place.  I could spend hours in there.  I don't even know why.  Target just makes me feel wonderful.  That's all.

7. Driving around with my husband.
Andrew & I do this thing known as "cruising" as he likes to call it, that other people probably think is kind of weird but we love it.  We just drive around the metro, talk, & enjoy the view.  It's usually the time where we have some of the deepest, best talks ever.  We talk about our future, serious topics, or things we love about each other.  It's always the greatest time.

In the craziness of life, those are the 7 things that make me feel wonderful.

What are some things that make you feel wonderful?
