That One Time We Dressed Up As...

Growing up, we never celebrated Halloween. I was okay with that because (wait for the gasps) I don't really like candy. Sour things.. Oh please, I just might barf. Chocolate on the other hand, I'm okay with. Reese's are my favorite candy. I can also do similar things such as Butterfingers, Kit-Kats, etc. But I don't crave candy. (Now that my candy tangent is over, let's move right along.)

I still don't really celebrate Halloween but Andrew & I participate in many different dressing up festivities. Such as our church always does a Fall Festival. And our group of friends usually has a Halloween party which we are actually attending tomorrow.

So I decided to share with you a few of my costumes that have come about over the years. Enjoy y'all.

Okay, this one wasn't from Halloween, but it's too good not to share.

That time I went as a Justice employee because I got off of work too late to dress up.

Pumpkin Pi... Get it?

And then there's always that classic time Emilee & I were Starbucks cups.

Good ole' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Then there's this year... I was Russell from the movie "Up"

And Andrew was Mr. Fredricksen!

What's your favorite costume you've dressed up as? Hope you all have a safe & fun weekend!

8 Reasons Why I Can't Stop Listening to Adele's New Song

I love Adele. Always have, always will. She sings from the soul & I love the fact that she has a timeless voice. I'm all about Easy Listening, Jazz & Soul kind of music, not just from this time period, but also past ones. I'm a big Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Louie Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald fan. Michael BublΓ© has always been someone that represents that kind of music in today's world & I think Adele does too.

So have you heard her new song, "Hello" which is going to be a part of her new CD "25" coming out November 20? It's amazing. If you don't like Adele or have never listened to her before, you should check this song out. It may just perk your interest.

Image from: US Magazine

Here are 8 reasons why I can't stop listening to this song:

1. Lyrically, it's something most of us can relate to from either past or present experiences. (Or just in the fact that we've lost signal talking with someone on the phone before... *insert laughing hysterically emoji here*).

2. She sings it flawlessly.

3. I've missed hearing a new song from her in the past few years.

4. She's confident in her voice.

5. She's confident in how she looks.

6. The song has a good flow/beat.

7. She makes the listener feel what she's singing about (aka: SOUL).

8. And I mean, HELLO, it's just flat-out awesome.

If you haven't heard the song, watch it below!

Pre-order Adele's new album "25" right HERE! What do you think of her new song?

Cheers to 100 Blog Posts + A Poll FOR YOU!

100. Have I really published that many posts already? It seems like just yesterday I was creating this blog. Now, 7 months in, I'm feeling great about blogging. Is it weird that I think I've found "my thing?" I know I'm no Helene yet, but I'm inspired to get there soon enough.

Blogging has given me a way to express myself. It makes me feel like my random spurts of creativity & writing are getting put to good use. I've started to make new friends in the blogging community such as Sarah @ Plucky in Love who is about to start a new Instagram challenge with MacKensie @ One to Nothin' on November 1st. You should check out their blogs to find out all of the fun details! I'll be joining in on the excitement too!

Not only have I made new friends, I've also started to take new blogging courses to help grow my blog. The one I can't urge bloggers enough to join in on is "Quit Your Job to Blog." I am amazed at all of the things I'm learning on how to grow my blog AND make money from it. For instance, I've learned about how to establish my voice on my blog & how to gain traffic to it as well. Helene not only is someone I look up to as a mentor, but I consider her my friend as well. I could not ask for a better person to teach this awesome course.

Also, for all you Instagram lovers out there, she's teaching a course titled "Instagram for Success." It gives you inside tips on how Helene has increased her Instagram following to over 13,000 followers & how she makes money from her Instagram easily... And SO CAN YOU.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll stick with this whole blogging thing. I'm loving every minute of it & having the time of my life. I encourage every single one of you to do what you love in life... Whether it's a hobby or a career. If you do something that you are excited & passionate about, I think you're golden.

So cheers to 100 blog posts... & here's to 100 more.

Now will YOU, my lovely reader, do me the honor of taking this poll I've created? I love feedback from you & want to know your thoughts on these past 100 posts! I would also love it (if you do love this blog) if you could share with your friends & family. I love seeing new faces around the blog ;)

Whippin' & Nae-naein' at a Wedding

I went to one of my best friend's weddings on Friday night. I was a part of the "house party" where we all wore burgundy colored dresses of all different styles. Andrew, of course, was my smokin' hot wedding date. And I got to hang out with friends & people that I haven't seen in a long time (weddings are always fun like that).

The bride was stunning & the groom was handsome. I almost even teared up & if you know me, I don't cry. The wedding was absolutely perfect, almost as if it came right out of a storybook.

And then the reception started. The food was awesome & we had a clear shot of the dance floor. Of course we did a little Photo Booth action. And there was a coffee bar (yumm) & a fire pit so you could roast marshmallows to make s'mores.

Now, the Cha-Cha Slide is usually about my limit of dancing, but it was my friend's wedding so I clearly had to Whip & Nae-Nae (whatever that means) & Wobble (whatever that means too). Andrew got some really cute pictures of Emilee & I attempting to dance along.

When the time came, the bride & groom left to sparklers (which were a bit frightening when people were so close to each other). But nonetheless, it was of course breathtaking. I'm sure the photographer got some awesome pictures.

My question is though, does the whippin' or the nae-naein' come first? Because I'm really not sure what that song means.

4. I'm taking Helene's e-course "Quit Your Job to Blog" & I'm absolutely LOVING it. I've only done the first little section & I've already learned so much. Helene also created a private community for those of us taking the course to be able to get to know each other, ask questions, & collaborate. I love blogging & I love the blogging community. 7 Ways To Have The Best Staycation Of Your Life

Everybody needs a staycation every now & then... A time where you can just chill out at home & not do anything. Life is busy. We all need a break to relax & give ourselves a little TLC so we're not all uptight & stressed 24/7. Today I'm going to give you 7 (easy) ways to have the best staycation of your life.

You're welcome.

1. Take a bubble bath. Splurge & get that Lush Bath Bomb you've been dying to have for the last year. Girlfriend, you need to unwind.

2. Read a book. Maybe a good ole' Nicholas Sparks one? Or even a funny one such as this. Whatever you decide, cuddle up with your soft, cozy blanket, light a fantastic smelling candle, & read a good book.

3. Stay in bed all day. I mean, it doesn't get much better than that.

4. Make hot tea or coffee. There's just something about drinking a warm beverage that makes you feel all cozy inside.

5. Don't get ready for the day. Just stay in your pajamas & don't worry about doing your hair or makeup. It's one of the best feelings in the world.

6. Order pizza or Chinese. Can you say "yummo"? I sure can. Especially some egg drop soup :)

7. Binge watch Netflix. Make Netflix ask you "Are you still watching?" one day. Put on your favorite show & just chill out with some popcorn. It's going to be a fantastic day.

What's your ideal staycation?

Stop Asking When A Couple Is Going To Have A Baby

I can't tell you how many times I've been asked when Andrew & I are going to have a baby. I even specifically remember someone coming up to us at our wedding & asking us when we were going to have one. I mean, I get it. We're a young newlywed couple who is surrounded by other couples who didn't wait as long as we have. Also, don't get me wrong-- I want to be a mom one day (really bad). But before you ask again, be careful.

The problem is, when you ask a couple when they are going to have a baby, you never know what they're going through. You don't know their situation in life. In honor of October being National Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month, I thought I could shed some light on this sensitive topic.

The couple could be:

-Unable to conceive

-Unable to carry the child (miscarriage)

-Unable to financially support a child (so they are trying to be responsible in not having one until they can support him or her)

-Having problems in their marriage

-Going through a rough time in their family (example: dealing with the death of a loved one, someone moved, etc.)

-Wanting to enjoy some time together, growing as a couple before bringing a child into the world

*And the list could go on & on*

Whatever the reason is, it is really no one's business when someone is going to have a baby. It may offend the couple or even hurt them. So many times, we as humans are so concerned with what is going on in everyone else's lives, that we forget it's really none of our business.

I'm glad that people care about Andrew & I & want to know what is going on in our lives, but until we announce that we are expecting, please be careful what you say. Even though Andrew & I have not lost a child or anything, as humans, we should all be sensitive to couples who don't have a baby. You never know what someone is going through.

What do you think?

The Problem With This Weather...

I try to roll with the punches in life. I try to be positive. But I'm definitely a realist. I can look at something in front of me & yes, I can try to think positive, but I also can see reality. Currently, this weather has really been giving me a problem. I'm happy that fall is upon us, but I don't think Oklahoma has received the memo yet. Or maybe it has & it's just not quite ready.

Here in the great state of Oklahoma we live in a constantly changing environment. I think the saying goes, "Don't like the weather? Wait until tomorrow." Maybe that's not exactly how it goes, but it's something similar & I think it gets the point across. Oklahoma is basically indecisive all year long. It does what it wants when it wants.

For example, last night, a "cold front" came through. It knocked our Tuesday morning low down to a whopping 48 degrees. When I woke up around 8:00 AM, it was pretty chilly... around 55 degrees or so. Obviously, I got dressed knowing that it was chilly outside. But then I looked at the high for the day.

88 DEGREES?! Are you kidding me?

Between the morning low (48 degrees) & the high (88 degrees) the temperature is supposed to climb 40 degrees throughout the day! How does that even happen??

So what's a girl to do when the temperature climbs that much throughout the day? Do I dress for the morning or the afternoon? Luckily, the pool store stays relatively chilly inside all day. I try to dress for that. But still, when I walk outside to my car after we close, I know that I'll sweat like a MAD WOMAN.

I guess that's just the struggle of living here in Oklahoma. I'm hoping that it starts to make up its mind soon enough. I'm ready for actual fall weather. But then again, typically we skip the whole spring & fall seasons by jumping straight from summer to winter & then back again by May.

Any other states having the same problem we are? How do you dress for this weird weather?

50 Things You Should Do At Least Once In Your Life

Are the cool kids still saying "YOLO?" I mean, it's true. You do only live once. Except I can't get in with all of these terms... Yolo, bae, etc. That's beside the point though. Best Fall Nail Colors of 2015

I love having painted nails. It makes me feel like I have my life together & all. Fall nail colors are my favorite since I'm a basic kind of girl. I love to wear all of the dark & neutral tones this time of year.

OPI is my by far my favorite brand of nail polish. It stays on longer than any other brand of polish I've tried. And if I'm going to spend the time to paint my nails, I want it to last more than 2 days!

So here are my picks of the best fall nail colors of 2015!

Do you have a favorite brand of nail polish? What nail colors are you wearing this fall?

The Story Behind My New Necklace

So recently, some of my favorite bloggers (Helene & Taylor) had a friend start up a new Etsy necklace shop called "Hey June Shop." The necklaces are sold by birth stone for each month. The purpose of this business is to celebrate those special moments in your life... Not just specifically your birth month. I absolutely love that!

Of course, my birthday is in the month of June. I thought about sticking with my birth stone & just ordering that, but I honestly am not that obsessed with my birthday or anything. I wanted a necklace that would symbolize something special in my life. Not just the month I was born, but something I care deeply about.

That is why I bought an emerald necklace for the month of May.

Andrew & I got married on May 17, 2014. It was one of the best days of my life! I could not have pictured a more perfect day. It wasn't just the whole "wedding perfect" thing, it was more about our actual marriage. Clearly our marriage isn't "perfect," but I think it's perfectly imperfect. Andrew is the love of my life & I wanted a way to celebrate that special day. I considered getting a December stone necklace because that's the month we started dating & the month he proposed, but I knew May was the most important month to me. I wanted to celebrate our marriage.

Marriage isn't always easy. It takes work. But it's so worth it. Spending your life with your best friend should be celebrated. Every year shouldn't be taken for granted. It should be remembered & cherished. That's why I bought the May stone. That's why I love to wear it-- to celebrate us as husband & wife.

What's the month you would celebrate?

P.S. On the Hey June Shop right now, she just released her silver line of necklaces & they're currently 20% off through October 13 using the code SILVER20. If you aren't into the silver (I'm a gold kind of girl), you can still get free shipping on orders placed over $50 by using the code FREESHIP! You're welcome :)

Shout Out to "Monica"

Clearly as I'm writing this, I'm totally doing the emoji with her hand out saying "haters gonna hate." And I'm also humming "Shake It Off" by T. Swift because who wouldn't be when they're writing a post about someone hating on them.
So last night, I was minding my own business, binge watching Grey's Anatomy with Murphy while Andrew was playing basketball when suddenly, I got a retweet from my tweet I sent out yesterday about my "How I Knew I Was Ready To Get Married At 20" blog post. I thought to myself, "Well holla!" because I got a retweet & all. And then about two minutes later, I got tagged in a "quote tweet" from someone who follows the Twitter account that had just retweeted me. If you don't know what a quote tweet is, it's basically like a retweet but someone can comment on it. Who knew I was already getting haters in the cyberspace world?!

I'm thinking I should be flattered really. I mean, if I have haters, that means my blog is growing. So maybe I'm really #winning?

Any who, this girl quote tweets me-- let's just call this girl Monica. So obviously my tweet was a link to my blog post about getting married at 20. Apparently, Monica thought it was funny that I got married at that age. So Monica said, "Ready at 20?!" with the two little emojis that are crying from laughing so hard.

I gasped as I read it & thought to myself, "How do I block this chick?!"

Well, I accidentally followed her. Whoops. So I quickly unfollowed her (because I can't support someone who is mean). But while I was still trying to figure out how to block her, I realized that her info said that she was a blogger. A FELLOW BLOGGER?! I was in disbelief that a fellow blogger is making fun of another blogger. I mean, how are we going to all succeed unless we help each other out?!

Blogging is so much more than just writing good content. It's about making connections with other bloggers. That's how you gain faithful followers/readers. As I'm slowly but surely starting to make blogging friends, I couldn't believe that Monica would say such a thing (& the topic of my post yesterday wasn't even a political or controversial argument).

So to my haters, aka Monica, if your readers see you making fun of other bloggers, you're not going to gain a good following of people. When you say something like that, you come across as rude, untrustworthy & frankly, stuck up. Monica, be nice to other bloggers if you want to go somewhere in the blogging world.

That's all.

Happy Tuesday, folks!
