A Letter To My Daughter On Her 1st Birthday

Dear Ruby,

I can't believe you're a year old. It seems like I just found out I was pregnant with you the other day. Or that I just gave birth to you. But here you are, my big one year old daughter. Somehow I blinked & you grew so fast.

I'm so proud of you. You have learned so much in your first year of life. Sure, other babies learn the same things during their first year too, but you've done it all in your own, unique way. Every time you do something new, I get so excited for you because I know how big you're getting.

You have the best smile in the whole wide world. I'm confident no one out there can make a room light up like you do. You know just how to make the grumpiest person happy. You make friends everywhere you go, more than I ever will.

I pray I never hold you back from doing what you're meant to do. No matter if you're meant to stay a few miles away from me, or all the way on the other side of the world, I will always love & support whatever God has planned for you.

I also pray that when you look at me, you see Jesus. I hope this past year you have. Even though you're still young, I know that you're taking in everything that goes on around you. I pray that your Daddy & I continue to strive to make our home a Christ centered environment for you to grow up in.

This past year has had its hard times, but you have continued to make it brighter.

I pray that one day you will realize you are a sinner, separated from God, in need of a perfect Savior. And I pray that you realize that Jesus died on the cross & took the punishment for your sins that you deserved & put it on Himself. So that when God looks at your life, He sees the perfect life that Jesus lived instead of your sinful one. But I pray that you also realize that Jesus didn't just die, He rose from the dead & is seated at the right hand of God. Ruby, your Daddy & I serve a living Savior. I long for the day when you can personally say He is your Savior as well.

Until then, I will continue to read Scripture to you. I will continue to sing Christ-honoring songs to you. I will continue to speak Truth to you. I will continue to pray for you. And I will strive to continue to show you what a godly woman looks like.

I love you, Ruby June.

Happy 1st Birthday!

Love,
Mommy
